Long-Awaited (sp?) Update

Well there has been a lot that has happened.  Some of it I can’t share with everyone, but basically, the last 4 weeks have been interesting.

1) I became a manager at work now formally.  And that is exciting and has brought with it some challenges as well.
2) I am still undecided about Thanksgiving this year in the USA.  It will depend on a lot of factors.
3) At the moment, I’ll be spending Christmas with Alex and his family and that should be cool.
4) Seems like Robin and I are on the way to becoming friends again

Other than that, there has been a lot of pressure at work and even some outside of work.  But it is all being managed now and is manageable.

I’ll fill in some more details more often from now on.  And remember, I’m on Facebook as well, the social utility site of the moment.  But no worries…there are still things you can get from LiveJournal that you can’t from Facebook, so I will live with both.  So for those of you who have asked me to go other sites, I basically keep to LJ, Facebook, and LinkedIn.  I’m just too lazy to check MySpace and most of the others.

I hope to get some more pictures up here in some of the next posts…and maybe even when I learn how to transfer it properly, some video 🙂

Hugs to everyone!

Week In Review

Well this was my first full week back from vacation.  I can’t say that I am overwhelmingly happy to be back at work now, but it is nice to have a bit of a routine.

This week there was a lot of urgent and import tasks to be completed at work.  I managed to get most of them completed, but without exception there will be more urgent tasks this week.  There usually are 🙁

At any rate, the weekend was quite nice.  On Friday I took it easy and stayed at home.  I watched Thank You For Smoking and Scent of A Woman.  They were both really good films.  On Saturday, Alex came over and we just sat around and drank and chatted.  And then we went out to Lino and had a great night out.  Today we decided to eat hamburgers and the hungover food of choice (and Alex makes the best hamburgers ever!).

It sucks that this weekend has to end so soon.  But oh well…back to the daily grind.

Oh yeah, and for those of you interested, I have begun to use Facebook a lot more now.  So maybe see you on the site!

Mountain Experiences in Örnsköldsvik

It has been becoming increasingly longer in between updates, but that is because I have been on vacation for the last 4 weeks and updating LJ hasn’t been the highest priority as of late.  But soon vacation is over and the updating and the fun starts again.

So I am guessing that now is as good as time as any for a general update.

As most of you know, I went to Palma de Mallorca with Alex and that was a lot of fun.  And then Alex took me to Örnsköldsvik to see how life in the Northern part of Sweden is.  And I have to say that I liked it up there as a vacation point, even though I am not sure that I could live there.  It is not because anything is bad up there at all.  Rather, it has more to do with the fact that I am a city guy at heart and I don’t know that I would be able to make the transition so very easily.

While we were up there, we went hiking up a mountain.  On the way up we followed the trail up and that was really nice.  Picking and eating blueberries along the way.  It was really nice and relaxing up there.  Here are some photos…we are 270 meters (886 feet) above sea level. But first a really bad video of me going up the mountain…35 minutes in, badly prepared, and well…the video speaks for itself :-/

Palma de Mallorca…now with some pictures…

Here you can see pictures from the trip to Palma.  I’m the black guy 😉 … Alex is the other guy in some of the pics.

Sorry for not posting them all to LJ directly, but when I post to Fotki, it usually means that it’s a “long-term collection”

I have some pics from my phone that I will also add later….but here is a preview of the pics

Palma de Mallorca

Palma was a fantastic time!!!!

There was great opportunities to sun bathe and tan, the nightlife was fantastic, and the days were relaxing and peaceful. I can think of much worse ways to spend that money. The hotel was fantastic as well.

Now Alex and I are at the airport waiting to begin travel back to Sweden. We then spend some quiet days in Örnsjoldsvik and then to M&T’s summer house for a weekend.

Anyway, writing this without pictures doesn’t do the experience justice, so I promise to post pictures later. Ciao for now 🙂

The Day After Tomorrow…

I’ll be on the beach and having fun in Mallorca.

Whee!

And now for a long update…or as long as I will be allowed before Alex and I go to the gym.

I know that it has been a very long time and I apologise for that. The last 6 weeks at work have been so stressed and crazy that at times I thought about giving it all up. But I managed through it and now today I begin my 4 weeks of vacation.

I will spend 5 days of it in Mallorca, and then another week of it at Alex’s place up north, and then we come back to Stockholm and I relax in the city doing a whole lot of nothing.

Looking forward to it actually.

I have told people at work that I really don’t expect to be called or contacted unless it is urgent. And I mean that. I can only think that I will not make the effort to run for the phone all of the time. For Palma, there will be no e-mail at all.

Also, Markus is now in Paris and I totally missed saying goodbye which I feel bad about. But hopefully if I get a trip to Paris we’ll meet again.

Anyway, you can eventually expect to see the pics from Mallorca as well as posts (I’ll have my Palm T3 so I will make updates on the handheld) to keep you all updated on the experience.

Until then, take care and lots of hugs!

Birthday and All

So it has now come and gone…my 31st birthday. And I feel just fine.

I celebrated the day by relaxing and just doing nothing all day long. It was perfect. Alex came over and we went out to dinner. He got me a really cool belt and a new pair of undies. And I got lots of great birthday wishes (over 25 of them…thanks everyone…that made my day!!!) and really cool e-cards!

On Friday Alex and I went to the gym and worked out for 2 hours, and then we ate lunch and then went out shopping and he managed to find a store with great jeans for tall guys like me. And I got a new pair of jeans. And I got new pillows as well, and new underwear and socks. And then we had dinner and then he had to go home and prep for a competition.

Markus then called me and invited out to a VIP party that one of his friends was hosting. Or at least his friend’s company. It was a fabulous place and great party. All of the free booze one could drink, so we stuck with the champagne until it ran dry. And then we had mixed drinks and not-so-mixed drinks until we were too drunk to stay. So then I went home and went to sleep about 10 minutes later.

This morning was quite nice…not really hung over…and with enough energy to go to the gym :-9
