Happy Thursday

Or so I think….it was supposed to be a day off today but instead I worked all day. Friday and Monday are bank holidays in Sweden, so I will definately take that time off.

It’s been a long week. Everyone I know is away this weekend so I get extra time to take on personal projects. I have some ideas.

I guess this weekend I shall relax and drink more coffee. And get ready for the fact that I have a monster travel schedule for the next couple of weeks. Not happy stuff…

The Good, The Bad, and the Super Caffinated

The good news about my Nespresso Le Cube Expresso Machine (including the Aerocino) is that short and long coffees are available within less than 60 seconds.

The bad news about my Nespresso Le Cube Express Machine (including the Aerocino) is that short and long coffees are available within less than 60 seconds.

I’ve had a cafe latte and 2 expressos so far today.

I.  Am.  Caffinated.  Wired for sound.

Stupid Desktop Computer! :-(

My desktop computer won’t start up at all.  I have put in the Windows XP CD to try and get it into recovery mode but even that doesn’t seem to have the desired effect and it is i taking hours and I must leave on Sunday afternoon.

And there is no slot for laundry so unless I steal someone’s time, I will have no clean clothes.

Today is not a good day 🙁

It’s Been A Long Time…

lj-mood: awake

lj-music: This Body – Janet Jackson

And I am not really sure to be honest
why it has taken my such a long time to write anything in my journal.  It
is certainly not because there are a lack of stories or information to
share with you all.  It has more to do with the fact that I have been
so incredibly busy and in some casesstressed out that I have not had the
opportunity really to spend the amount of time that I want to to write
things down.  So in fact I am writing this in e-mail in the back of
a taxi.

Life in general has been quite okay
if I must measure it against the greater things of what is important.  My
work is challenging but good, friends have gotten married, others have
gotten divorced, and I have made an effort to keep in touch with those
whom I have not communicated with regularly via e-mail.  In the time
that I have written (and I can’t remember just now how long it has been),
I have been to Budpest, traveling around the Nordics to Helsinki and Copenhagen,
and have made lots of new friends.

It’s kinda like I don’t even know where
to begin to explain the missing period of my life that isn’t recorded in
LJ right now.  But now matter…for the moment, it’s a beautiful spring
day in Copenhagen…and I will enjoy the day and the weather….and maybe
do some expense reports since American Express is sending me love letters
again.

Enjoy the day boys and girls 🙂  And
I will write some more soon 🙂

Information Security Failure…

This artcile is actually pretty good…

http://www.securityabsurdity.com/failure.php

Where I think it doesn’t do enough justice is by neglecting to note that security transcends technology…meaning in my view that most of the technical and security laspes that we experience today start first with social engineering….click here to see XYZ celebrity without clothes, a businessman in Nigeria just needs a small amount of money to unlock a vast fortune…open this attachment urgently and without delay…and so on and so forth.

I feel that we have a fundamentally flawed security model that says make security passive towards the user…it just works in the background.  But that is only part of the solution.  The real solution is to get the user base educated and aware of security, so that the next time they get an offer in the mail that’s too good to be true, they would instinctively know that the offer probably is too good to be true.
