Ode to Anita Baker

Most people who know me know that Anita Baker is one of my favour contemporary singers. I know it’s not the latest from Madonna, or the funky stylings of Kayne West. But in my mind, Anita comes from a time in music when a recording artist didn’t have to rely so heavily on mixing studios, backup dancers, or sampling for their supper. The league of muscians who didn’t have to reinvent themselves to sell more records because the strength of their voice and song carries the day.

I listened to her a lot while growing up, and now that she has put out another CD I am enraptured. I hope she puts out more 🙂
