Cyprus here I come!

So, Alex and I are on our way to Cyprus in a couple of days!

We are staying at this hotel in Agia Napa…it looks nice in the pictures and seems to get good reviews…

The plan is to take lots of pictures and then try and find a way to post some every day instead of waiting to post a lot of pictures when I get back. I don’t know how much of a success that will be though.

All we need now is to hope for good weather 🙂

Back from the Dead

Well, not back from the dead, but from an unannounced break from LJ and Blogging. Lots has been going on. I promise I will share with everyone in a couple of weeks after a few key things happen.

In the meantime, I hope that this Blog entry finds everyone well and I look forward to updating everyone.

Love and hugs, Rodney

Thanks for the Great Wishes! :-)

I just wanted to take a moment to publish on my Blog my real sincere thanks for to all you for your wonderful birthday facebook messages, voice mails, SMS, e-mails, and e-cards!
You love me…you all really love me 😀
Yesterday was a fantastic pre-birthday day. One of my best friends, Markus, took me out for drinks and Alex was there too which was really nice.

And this morning I woke up and was surprised with a home made cake from Alex. It was really nice and sweet of him.

So yeah, I’ll write more later 🙂

Twisted Sunday Humor

OK, so I don’t know why I am laughing at this joke. But right now, it’s just plain funny.

The Love Story of Ralph and Edna

Just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to, doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have.

Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there.
Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out.

When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna’s heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable.

When she went to tell Edna the news she said, ‘Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you’re being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love. I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness. The bad news
is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he’s dead.’

Edna replied, ‘He didn’t hang himself, I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?’

Sun rise and taxes

There are only a couple of things that are certain, and the rising of the sun and taxes are two of them.

In Sweden it is time to file tax returns. the cool thing about Sweden however is that they send you a form with the amounts completed for you. You make any changes if anything is incorrect. and then you can file on paper, internet, or sms. This seems profoundly more logical than the U.S. tax system (where I also have to file by next month).

Thinking about this as the sun is rising is abnormal, but I am awake anyway.

Hope that everyone has a good day today or tonight, wherever you may be!

the early bird catches the worm. except i hate worms.

this morning was another one of those mornings. the kind where for no good reason I wake up early. i have developed this thing in recent years where no matter what I do, I just can’t sleep in.

anyway I do have more interesting stuff to post I peomise, but for the moment I am still testing out some features on my ‘new’ phone (new to me anyway).

hope this post finds everyone well. today is bon fire day in sweden so maybe i will take some pics.

Talk Talk Talk

Everyone once in awhile, I get a message from one of you out there about why it has been such a long time since I posted.

The truth is I have really bad reasons.  I’ve never been known for my communications skills.  I tend to keep in touch with people using technology-enabled methods, such as Facebook or here on LJ.  Sometimes even on IM. And always SMS. I’m not big on phone calls and e-mail.

I think that the way I choose to communicate with people causes problems sometimes, and I know that everytime I try to change it, I do really good for a few weeks, but then I settle back into my old habits.

So, for those who have written and called, please know I haven’t forgot you.  Just try to imagine that I spend lots of time in front of a computer and taking phone calls (even when I am traveling).  So in my free-time, I tend to lead a tech-free existence.

I’m working on getting better at communication more often and more frequently.  So your patience with me is appreciated 🙂

Bonjour

Well hello again…after a long haitus from LiveJournal.  We’ll forego the usual sorry-I-did-not-update message.

Anyway, since I have last updated I had a really long assignment that saw we traveling back and forth from Denmark to Stockholm.  It was really intense and exhausting and I hope we get the right result from our project work.  We’ll know more in the next days.

In addition to a lot of time in Denmark, I also went on a weekend trip to Paris.  Markus and Tomas were also traveling at the same time there, so it was good.  And of course, Niclas and Pontus were so it was good to go around with them out.  Alex met Chloe, and we found another great restaurant in Paris (surprise surprise).

So really everything was quite nice about the weekend.  I did manage to pick up a cold shortly before going, so the last day in Paris wasn’t all that much fun, but still I managed to make a good time of it.

Next stop…Barcelona!

But first, rest and recovery since this cold managed to kick my ass last night and this morning.
