Off to Finland tomorrow!

My boss’s boss called me yesterday as I was traveling back from Norway to Stockholm (doesn’t he ever take a vacation?!?!). And we discussed some work that had to be done this weekend so I have done it. And then he reminded that I am supposed to be with him in Finland on Monday and Tuesday to work with some of our major accounts there. Holy shit! I completely forgot. So I had to call our company’s emergency travel service. They will charge me up the wazoo for tickets. Luckily I got a cheap hotel, which they might make me change so we can all stay at the same hotel.

So I get another night of travel and I get to be in Finland, which is nice enough in the summer. It could be worse I guess.

Time for a smartphone?

So as I am travelling, I have both a Palm Tungsten T3 and a Nokia 6600 phone. Now both are great devices (and the Technology section of The NYT gave Palm Treo 650 a great review), but I am wondering I really need two highly complimentary devices. I mean, for Nokia, the Symbian operating system is nothing short of amazing. If one were forced to live life organised on only a Nokia device, it would not be a punishment. But with a PDA, you get access to great applications and other possibilities even the most nicely designed mobile phone does not have (for example Pocket Quicken). So now more than ever I am beginning to move away from my position that a smart phone (PDA and mobile combined) is a single point of failure. I might just buy a Treo 650.

To get or not get a new PC?

My old desktop is in it’s last legs. It’s 5 years out of support and barely has room to run today’s applications — Ihave already had to get an external drive just to make things work…

It feels like it is time for me to get a new computer. I mean, I have my work laptop, but that is not really mine.

So should I get a new computer?

Oh yeah, and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy now podcasts. Hee.

Happy Midsummer

For those of you that live in Sweden, you know today is midsommarafton. It’s a day where everyone gets drunk, dances around a pole that is made to resemble a penis and testicles pointing downward, and eat lots of food. That’s the best explanation this Yankee can provide.

So tonight, Markus, Tomas, Max, Robin, and I are planning a picnic. Nothing too fancy, just a variety of meats, vegetables, snacks, and booze. You know, the usual. And then to top it all off — we will go out and party. Because today is a national holiday and I am not expected to be coherent at work until Sunday night.

Well anyhoo…there is a lot of stuff going on, so I will tell you later when I get a chance.

I feel love…I love the summer! :)

Crickets Sing For Anamaria
Emma Bunton

Hey Maria Papa said
You better go to bed
Maria Mama said
You better go to bed
And little sister said
You better go to bed
The older brother said
You heard what Papa said
You better say goodnight
You better shut the light
And Papa told you no
You can’t go out tonight
But Papa didn’t know
Maria had a date
And couldn’t let him wait

So in a little while
She waited till the lights were low
She went out the window to her beau, and so

There’s a lot of huggin’ then
A lot of kissin’ then
A lot of huggin’ him
A lot of kissin’ him
A lot of happy talk
A lot of moon above
But very little time
But very little time
To make a lot of love
To make a lot of love
Which is a normal thing
To make a lot of love
For it was summertime
When all the crickets sing
And in the summertime

When anyone’s in love
The crickets sing a happy song
But they didn’t do their repetoire for long

Suddenly the Papa came
And then the Mama came
And then the sister came
And then the brother came
And then the uncle came
And then the cousin came
An even dozen came
And I can tell you this
It was a dirty shame
Because the Papa came
And then the Mama came
And then the sister came
And then the brother came
And then the cousin came
And even dozen came
And I can tell you this
Do-do-do-do

When anyone’s in love
The crickets sing a happy song
But they didn’t do their repetoire for long

Suddenly the Papa came
And then the Mama came
And then the sister came
And then the brother came
And then the uncle came
And then the cousin came
An even dozen came
And I can tell you this
It was a dirty shame
Because the Papa came
And then the Mama came
And then the sister came
And then the brother came
And then the cousin came
An even dozen came
And I can tell you

Suddenly the Papa came
And then the Mama came
And then the sister came
And then the brother came
And then the uncle came
And then the cousin came
